This illustration was created for the Telford City Council in the United Kingdom. I was initially provided with two blueprint style maps from which I used Adobe Illustrator to trace the outer parameters. From there I used both Google Maps (terrain view) as well as the maps provided to me to study what needed to be illustrated and what could be classed as a trivial detail. One of the main points of the brief was to keep it visually clean while maintaining the positional accuracy of landmarks so finding a balance of detail and simplicity was key.
After a nice balance was discovered I went on to finish illustrating all of the landmarks, followed by the pathways, then the lakes, then the trees and finally the different shades of green were added to the terrain along with basic shadows added to the trees and other elements.
