Managing your project
By using a project management tool such as Freedcamp I can effectively manage my projects which makes it easier for you (and your team). No more trawling through emails to find a note from 3 weeks ago.
Here’s how it works
I send you a login for your project management dashboard. Once you login you will see different areas relating to different aspects of your project. One example being a discussion area where any topical discussions normally had via email can take place. For example I may start a discussion titled “Possible brand names”. Any time you, I, or anyone else involved in your project thinks of a possible name this is where they will convey their idea. The point obviously is to keep all information organized as neatly as possible so that later on down the line we can find anything we need quickly and easily.
Tasks and milestones are also managed online. This way everybody can see where everyone else is at in terms of their assigned tasks for the week. Any files that need to be shared are also taken care of online. For example you may need to provide me with a .doc file containing copy for your contact page. All you need to do is upload it in the files section where it will stay indefinitely, always there for myself or anyone else to find later on down the line.
Why it’s useful
Obviously this is useful for keeping information organized and all in one place. It is also priceless if someone new is brought in to work on the project. For example you may decide that you need to hire a photographer for some good product shots. Your photographer can then be added to the project at which point he instantly has access to all previous discussions, wireframes, product lists, product categories… everything, making his or her job MUCH easier.
It’s also handy in case anyone disagrees on what was actually agreed upon in regards to a particular task. Everyone has access to the same information so any conflicts of opinion can be quickly dealt with…
Not to mention it’s just satisfying ticking things off a list. Maybe that’s just me.
